Barbados’ daily covid-19 cases have set yet another record, 427 new positives from 2 thousand 555 tests done yesterday.
The cases include 70 people who are under the age of 18.
There are now more than 45 hundred people in isolation – 638 in isolation facilities and 3 thousand 896 in home isolation.
Minister of Health Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, speaking during a covid-briefing disclosed that the biggest group of new cases comes from the Psychiatric Hospital.
The Health Minister also defended the decision to relax the arrival protocols for vaccinated visitors insisting that the vast majority of new cases involve locals not visitors. He said there will be a major focus on community testing and warned the country to expect the daily cases to spike even further as a result.
Meantime, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley continued to make it clear there will be no lockdown.
Miss Mottley also restated her position that vaccination will not be made mandatory.
She announced that implementation of safe zones commences on November 1st.
Prime Minister Mottley also disclosed that a new set of Pfizer vaccines is coming shortly compliments the United States government.
