Three new fire tenders arrive

Three new tenders for the Barbados Fire Service have arrived in the island.

Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams and Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard were among officials who this morning inspected the new fire trucks at the Bridgetown Port.

The fire tenders have been acquired at a cost of three million Barbados dollars and will augment the fleet that lost a fire truck due to a traffic accident almost two years ago and was further depleted when a tender was destroyed in a fire in a cane field at Locust Hall St. George recently.

The Fire Chief disclosed that the new trucks had to be special ordered and took two years to arrive from time of order to delivery.

Meantime, Mr. Abrahams says the new trucks will be on the road by next week.
