The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners has convened an urgent council meeting or this evening to discuss a dispute between surgeon Dr. Maurice Waldrond, and his employers the Queen Elizabeth Hospital which has notified him of possible disciplinary action over statements he made on VOB’s Getting Down to Brass Tacks call-in program.
Dr. Waldrond called into the program on two occasions on Monday and Tuesday last week to raise concerns about the setting up of an emergency surgery facility at the Enmore Medical facility to treat COVID-19 patients.
QEH Executive Chairman, Juliet Bynoe-Sutherland wrote Dr. Waldrond yesterday officially informing him of disciplinary charges for speaking without permission warning that one of the penalties could be dismissal.
Acting BAMP President Dr. Geoffrey Lafond tells Starcom Network News Dr. Waldrond has reached out to BAMP on the matter.
