The police come under fire in the city

The police say that at about 9 30 last night, officers from the Anti-Gun units were on patrol in the areas of Chapman Lane, New Orleans and Murphy’s Pasture.

The statement adds that while the officers were passing through the area of Murphy’s Pasture they fired on by people who were liming in the area, who in turn ran away while the police returned fire in the direction from which the shots came.

The police say one house was damaged, but no injuries were reported.

This morning a resident of the area gave this version of events.

While Starcom Network News was speaking to the Chapman Lane residents a police patrol car pulled up, and the officers identified themselves as part of the community policing effort in the area where a police outpost is stationed.

The officers greeted us and listened patiently as the residents voiced their views on last night’s events.
