Suspected burglar shot during curfew

One of two suspicious men seen prowling the Bay Street, St. Michael area during the curfew hours last night was shot in the mouth, according to some reports, while allegedly trying to break into a house.

Police say that just before that incident they received a report of two men wearing hoodies and carrying haversacks looking suspicious in the area of Harbour Lights Club at Bay Street, St. Michael.

The police say that when they responded, the men fled that location but later one of the men was spotted on the roof of a house near Bay View Hospital.

A gunshot was heard and police returned to the scene and found the suspect on the ground with what appeared to be a bullet wound to the left side of his mouth.

He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance where he was diagnosed with a broken right jaw where the bullet was lodged. The suspect remains at the hospital.
