John King denies expressing opposition to moving Lord Nelson Statue

Minister of Culture, John King says he has not expressed opposition to moving the Lord Nelson Statue, but disagreed with the statue being discarded and he has called for a national dialogue for an alternative site.

Mr. King tells Starcom Network News the uproar over his alleged comments is misplaced.

Meantime, political scientist and talk show host, Peter Wickham, took up the issue in his opening remarks on today’s edition of VOB’s Getting Down to Brass Tacks this morning, urging government to dispense with the notion of consultation on the matter and just move the statue.

But the Culture Minister insists that a national discussion on such matters is vital.
