Jamaica has confirmed its first case of the coronavirus,COVID-19.
The announcement was made by Minister of Health Dr. Christopher Tufton at a media briefing a short while ago. Dr. Tufton said the patient returned from the United Kingdom on March 4.
She went to a health facility on Monday and was placed in isolation after showing respiratory symptoms.
Dr. Tufton said the patient was diagnosed on Tuesday at approximately 11 a.m.
