Franklyn refuses AG’s “apology” || DLP calls for AG to be fired

Opposition Senator Caswell Franklyn, the person that first raised concern about the appointment of a second deputy police commissioner accuses the government of misbehaving over the matter and refuses to accept the attorney general’s apparent apology and promise to fix the problem.

Senator Franklyn had previously pointed out that the police act only allows for one deputy commissioner, a post already held by Erwin Boyce, and expressed concern that Oral Williams was being appointed to the same post.

Yesterday in a statement, the Attorney General admitted the misstep, effectively apologized for it, and promised to amend the police act to correct the problem.

But Senator Franklyn is unimpressed.

Meantime, the Democratic Labour Party has gone a step further and called on the Prime Minister to fire the attorney general over his handling of the matter…as we hear from Keith Goddard.
