The Electoral and Boundaries Commission is dismissing claims of political interference. EBC Chairman Ramon Alleyne is defending the integrity of the nation’s electoral process, stating firmly that there is no evidence of any attempt to manipulate the upcoming General Elections.
The comments come in response to Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne, who recently accused the BLP administration of meddling in the Commission’s internal management.
Speaking from the EBC’s Warrens office this morning, Mr. Alleyne dismissed the allegations as baseless.
The Chairman further clarified the relationship between the Commission and the State. He noted that, while the EBC remains a constitutionally independent body, it requires logistical support from the Government to function effectively.
