At least twelve Business owners operating at Savvy on the Bay along Bay Street have been put on notice following plans by the Government to acquire the property.
A notice published in the Nation newspaper states in part, that the Minister responsible for Lands intends to acquire parcels of land at Bay Street for purposes deemed to be in the public interest. These include recreation, vending, improved beach access, and car parking.
When contacted by Starcom Network News, Managing Director of Savoy Development indicated that, on the advice of his attorney, he was unable to comment on the matter at this time.
However, business owners Akesha Alleyne and Raymond Plummer, expressed concern, fearing that a change in ownership could negatively affect their operations and set them back financially.
