The Barbados Labour Party’s decision not to name a nominee for the City of Bridgetown ahead of the next general election has been described as “unusual” by two political analysts.
Dr. George Belle and Devaron Bruce told Starcom Network News that the party’s approach to the City represents a departure from its customary readiness in announcing candidates, particularly given public indications that the constituency’s nomination day is January 17.
They contrasted the delay with the recent announcement of the party’s nominee for St. Michael Central, suggesting that the situation may indicate that the incumbent, Corey Lane, is not yet prepared to step aside.
Meantime, Bruce believes there could be more to the matter.
