One independent senator retained and a new one named

Dr. Kenneth Connell has been sworn in as Barbados’ newest Independent Senator.

He joins returning Senator Monique Taitt, QC, as both took the oath of office this morning at Government House, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of economist Dr. Crystal Drakes.

The appointments were made by newly installed President, The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic.

Dr. Connell says his main focus in the Upper Chamber will be to advance the national dialogue on health and strengthen policy discussions in that area.

Meanwhile, Senator Monique Taitt says she is honoured to have been chosen once again to serve.
