Guyana’s Maritime Administration says the oil tanker seized by the United States this week was falsely flying the Guyana flag and is not registered in the country.
The Maritime Administration says it has seen a growing and unacceptable misuse of the national flag and was informed by U.S. authorities that the Motor Tanker named SKIPPER, formerly ADISA, was intercepted in international waters while fraudulently displaying Guyana’s colours.
The U.S. describes the SKIPPER as the largest crude tanker ever seized.
But speaking to Starcom Network News in Caracas, Miguel Yilales, head of a civil defense force in the homeland of Simón Bolívar, condemned the operation, calling it an act of “piracy.”
Franco Guillion translates.
Yilales further insisted that the United States Presence was about oil and queried why the tanker was not destroyed as the alleged drug boats.
