Schools Closed

The Ministry of Educational Transformation has moved swiftly to ensure the safety of students and staff as weather conditions worsen across the island.

Following an upgraded flash flood warning issued by the Barbados Meteorological Services, the Ministry announced that all schools will officially close at 1 p.m. today. Parents and guardians are being urged to collect their children as soon as possible.

Officials say the decision was made out of an abundance of caution, given the elevated risk of flooding associated with the current weather system. The Ministry has assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and will rely on guidance from the Barbados Meteorological Services before determining when schools can safely reopen.

Barbadians are advised to follow updates on the Ministry’s official social media channels, the Government Information Service, and trusted media partners for accurate information as it becomes available.

Authorities are calling on everyone to stay alert and exercise caution on the roads as the island braces for adverse weather. The Ministry is urging the public to remain vigilant — and above all — stay safe.
