Government is moving to amend legislation in Parliament to make Barbados a full member of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), a step that will provide access to billions of dollars in funding.

Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn, told Parliament this morning that the transition from shareholder to full membership will unlock more than 18 billion dollars in loan and investment opportunities.

He noted that the upgrade will not only support government projects, but will also open new investment avenues for the private sector.
