President of the Caribbean Development Bank, Daniel Best, says climate finance is critical to the Caribbean’s survival, not just its development.
Addressing the annual meeting of the Independent Accountability Mechanisms Network in Barbados, he warned that as funding for climate resilience grows, so does the risk of corruption, making strong accountability systems essential.
Best said the region’s vulnerability to hurricanes and other natural disasters means every development dollar must be used wisely.
The meeting brings together major global financial institutions, including the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank, to strengthen transparency in development projects.
