Chefette Restaurants has confirmed it is recruiting workers from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to fulfill its staff complement in Barbados — but says it is not opening a branch in Kingstown.
Managing Director of Chefette Restaurants Ltd., Ryan Haloute, was responding to a circulating social media poster claiming the company was recruiting for positions such as cooks, cleaners, hostesses, and maintenance technicians in St. Vincent.
Mr. Haloute told Starcom Network News that the company has extended the opportunity to the Vincentian workforce as Barbados has joined the free movement agreement with St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica, and Belize.
He stressed, however, that Chefette is not franchising or expanding beyond Barbados at this time, but is simply seeking to fill positions that have been difficult to staff locally.
