Police destroyed just over 150 firearms today in the second exercise of its kind, aimed at reducing the number of illegal weapons on the streets of Barbados.
The destruction took place at the Central Police Station, where Acting Inspector Ryan Brathwaite noted the wide variety of firearms involved—ranging from small-caliber handguns to high-powered weapons.
Inspector Brathwaite acknowledged the ongoing challenge posed by the level of firepower in the hands of criminals.
