Barbados National Energy Company Ltd. (BNECL) has confirmed that an oil spill in Oistins has led to the temporary closure of Oistins Hill to vehicular traffic.

According to BNECL, the spill is being managed by their team based at the Fairy Valley location. Personnel responded promptly, and all relevant emergency and environmental agencies are currently on site.

The spill has been successfully contained, and cleanup operations are actively underway.

To support these efforts, the road from the Y-junction by the Oistins Police Station to the base of Oistins Hill is temporarily closed. Pedestrians and commuters are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

An update will be issued once the road has been deemed safe and reopened to the public.
