The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) has declared its full support for teachers in response to rising violence in schools.
This follows a spate of student-on-teacher assaults at three secondary schools yesterday. CTUSAB President Ryan Phillips said this morning that the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) had raised valid concerns, particularly in light of the closure of Princess Margaret Secondary School today.
Mr. Phillips was speaking at a press conference held at the BUT Headquarters, convened to address a range of pressing issues.
CTUSAB General Secretary Dennis Depeiza also weighed in, voicing concern over the recent involvement of students in Parliament to welcome Minister of Educational Transformation and newly elected St. James North MP, Chad Blackman.
