The way is cleared for a by-election in St. James North as the MP Edmund Hinkson has informed the House of Assembly of his resignation effective Friday of this week.

Speaker of the House Arthur Holder made the announcement when the House of Assembly reconvened this morning.

Minister of Educational Transformation, Senator Chad Blackman has been identified by the ruling Barbados Labour Party as their new candidate in the constituency.

Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne declares the DLP is ready for a by-election as Edmund Hinkson set to step down in St. James North

Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne has declared that his party is fully prepared to contest the upcoming by-election in the St. James North constituency.

He was speaking following the announcement that Member of Parliament Edmund Hinkson will be stepping down from this Friday paving the way for Senator Chad Blackman to replace him as the Barbados Labour Party’s candidate.

Thorne told Starcom Network News the Democratic Labour Party has already ratified Felicia Dujon as its candidate.
