Sandra Glasgow is mourning the tragic loss of her only child 20-year-old Emmanuel Glasgow, who drowned yesterday at Paradise Beach, Brighton, St. Michael.
Police were called to the scene after reports of a naked man sighted near the water’s edge. Officers attempted to get him away from the shoreline, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The man then entered the sea and eventually disappeared beneath the surface.
A lifeguard and two men aboard a private vessel rushed to help, but by the time Emmanuel’s body was pulled from the water, it was too late. A medical doctor later confirmed his death at the scene.
Ms. Glasgow described her son as kind and quiet, and believes personal struggles, including the loss of his father, may have led to his actions.
She says she believes having seen some of videos circulating on social media, more could’ve been done to save her son.
Starcom Network News contacted Acting Inspector, Ryan Brathwaite who stated that the matter is being investigated.
