Specialist prosecutors to help tackle court backlog

Lawyers may replace police officers in prosecuting cases in the magistrates’ courts as the attorney general, Dale Marshall seeks to speed up the dispensation of justice and eliminate a huge backlog.

Mr. Marshall made the disclosure at the start of a three day symposium which is focused on addressing backlogs and delays in Barbados’ Criminal Justice System.

Mr. Marshall noted the significant backlog.
