Government authorities have commenced a clean-up of the area of the Treasury Building in the City, which had long been a haven for vagrants and the homeless.
With the police present, personnel from the Ministry of Health and the Sanitation Service Authority oversaw the removal of the vagrants and their belongings from the premises.
Among those welcoming the clean-up is, President of the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness, Kemar Saffrey.
He believes the initiative is necessary.
But, Mr. Saffrey believes that the homeless will return to the site.
