Barbados Safe Place Say Visitors Despite Attack on Tourist

A female visitor who was stabbed in the chest yesterday evening during an attempted robbery at Browne’s Beach is said to be in stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery.

The police say that about 7 43 pm the 40 year old US national and her husband were walking along the beach when they were attacked by a man who attempted to rob them.

An altercation ensued and the woman was stabbed. The visitor and her husband were both taken to the QEH by private motor vehicle for medical attention.

The couple are staying at the Hilton Hotel.

This morning when Starcom Network News visited the area where the attacked occurred, a food vendor described the incident as unfortunate and said additional security is needed on evenings at that beach.

Beach goers shared similar sentiments

Meantime Starcom Network also spoke with returning visitors from Germany, Norway and Canada about their experience in Barbados.

They all say they feel generally safe during their stay.
