Tropical Wave Could Bring Flooding Later This Week

The Barbados Meteorological Services advises the country to brace for possible thunderstorms and flooding from a passing wave later this week.

The department says it continues to monitor a number of tropical waves in the Atlantic as the historically most active month of the Hurricane Season approaches.

It notes that the outlook for the remainder of the season calls for an active hurricane season.

A weather statement says the tropical wave of immediate interest was at 2 PM located near 52 degrees West or 670 miles southeast of Barbados.

This system is expected to bring some moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms around Thursday.

The statement points out that some areas across the island are already saturated due to frequent rains over the past few weeks and warns that, as a result, flash-flood watches or warnings may be required at short notice.

The next update will be issued at 12 noon tomorrow, Wednesday.
