Scores of people hired for the volcanic ash clean-up are to be kept on and redeployed as part of government’s job-creation program.
That promise has been given by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley as he she addressed a town hall meeting in St. Phillip, one in a series being held across the country.
She was responding to a question from a member of the audience, one of the ash clean-up workers, who spoke of how the money earned in the program saved some young men from having to turn to crime to earn money
He feared the work was coming to an end soon.
The Prime Minister gave the assurance that the ash workers would be given new jobs in other projects including the home building program.
