Ticket Linkz Reports Fraudulent Event Ticket Purchases

An online ticketing platform has reported an increase in fraudulent attempts to purchase event tickets.

Chief Executive Officer of Ticket Linkz, Ryan Brathwaite, said that people are using stolen credit cards to purchase tickets to attend major events.

“Obviously during the Cropover season there’s a high demand for events and persons will patronize the online platforms to purchase these tickets and we have recognized recently that there has been an influx of persons using stolen credit cards, having stolen the information of the original owners of the card to purchase these tickets. our systems have identified the ticket. We’ve also alerted the police.”

Mr. Brathwaite urges Barbadians to purchase all tickets from the box offices.

“We would know the tickets that are linked to the fraudulent purchases so if you happen to be in the possession of a ticket that was purchased using the fraudulent card, then you will not be allowed in the event because; the ticket has not been obtained legitimately. What I would say though is that I can only implore persons who wish to attend your event, to get the tickets from legitimate sources to guarantee that you would have entry to the event when you actually turn up.”
