The police service is urging the public to secure their homes and take other precautions as they go out and about this Crop Over.

Police Crime Prevention Officer, Inspector Stephen Griffith, offers some tips.

Before leaving for anything, make sure you properly secure your home and valuables. When traveling on the streets, make use of the main thoroughfares, and well-lighted areas. Avoid wearing jewelry in crowded areas, and wherever possible, if you have to walk home from an event, travel in groups. If you’re attending events with children, make sure you know where all the children are at all times. Arrange rendezvous points, in case you are separated.
