Offices Close/Buses Stop Early as System Passes South

Government offices and the private sector have been closed early as a precaution due to possible showers and gusty winds from the system passing to the south as conditions may worsen during the night.

Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw also announced that the Transport Board will stop service at 6 30 PM.

But she stressed that there is no need to panic.

 

Announcing the early ending of today’s meeting of the House of Assembly, Attorney General Dale Marshall noted that there had had already been some electricity service outages.

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anthony Branker told Starcom Network News supermarkets would close between 4  and 4 30 PM.

Meantime, Director of Meteorological Services Sabu Best while stressing there are no watches or warnings for Barbados said showers and gusty winds can be expected.

Over in Trinidad and Tobago, the country shut down early as a Tropical Storm warning went into effect.

Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for communications, Symon De Nobriga, held a media briefing.
