Simpson Motors merger deal

The Simpson Motors Group, one of Barbados’ largest and most successful locally-owned businesses is being merged with and international automotive distributor, Inchcape PLC.

The announcement was made today by Sir Kyffin Simpson, the founder of – Simpson Motors and its regional automotive distribution arm, ITC.

He said agreement had been reached for what he called a business combination between ITC and Simpson Motors and Inchcape – the world’s largest global automotive distributor, operating in 36 territories, across six continents.

Sir Kyffin said it was very important to find a suitable steward for what he called the next chapter.

He stated that business will operate as usual and that his team will continue to work closely with their customers and partners and dealers in Barbados and across the Caribbean.

Meantime, Duncan Tait, Group CEO of Inchcape plc welcomed the Simpson Motors Group into the Inchcape family. He noted that the transaction is subject to the receipt of customary third-party consents and regulatory approvals.
