Two bank employees have been shot during an attempted armed robbery at the Wildey, St. Michael branch of Republic Bank.

Stunned customers of the bank spoke of seeing a short, slim masked man dressed in dark clothing who entered the bank pointing a gun.

Shots were fired during reported attempts to get a teller to hand over cash.

Many of the witnesses were left too shaken to speak but a man who arrived at the scene to comfort his traumatised wife spoke to Starcom Network News.

Managing Director and CEO of Republic Bank Barbados, Anthony Clerk spoke to reporters at the scene, indicating the injuries were not life threatening.

He stated that no cash was taken.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Dale Crichlow also briefed the media.
