Mosques ordered closed over covid outbreak

The Ministry of Health has ordered all Muslim Mosques in this country closed due to a covid-19 outbreak in that community that has affected up to 80 people.

The Covid-19 Monitoring Unit visited the mosques following the initial outbreak.

And now the ministry of health through the chief medical officer has issued an order for the immediate closure of the Muslim worship centers at Belleville, Sobers Lane and Kensington New Road in St. Michael as well asat Clairmont, St. James and Harts Gap, Christ Church.

President of the Muslim Association of Barbados, Dr. Abdul Mohamed, tells Starcom Network News the move is aimed at halting the spread.

  1. hi good night, this is a very misleading article / headline.

    Please note that in today’s meeting with the Covid Unit, the CMO and the mosque reps among others.

    it was confirmed by Leslie Rollock , senior medical officer in the MofHealth that there is no evidence to suggest any spread within the mosques.

    They have been closed to restrict the possibility of spread happening within mosques.
