Poultry hike

This country’s largest distributor of poultry products, Chickmont Foods, has raised its prices from this week saying they had no choice following a more than twenty percent increase in the price of animal feed from the lone supplier here.

Chickmont’s General Manager, Edward Albecker, confirmed the price hike to Starcom Network News.

He also points out that poultry farmers were hit hard by Hurricane Elsa.

Mr. Albecker stressed that price increases are likely to be across the board from all producers and he also expects some resulting decline in sales

Meantime, Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agriculture Society James Paul is calling on Pine hill dairy to pay more for the milk they buy from local farmers.
