Donville Inniss sentenced to two years in prison

Former Barbados Member of Parliament and Minister of Industry and Commerce Donville Inniss has been sentenced to two years in US federal prison for money laundering.
United States Judge Kiyo Matsumoto of the Eastern District Court of New York has given Mr. Innis time to get his affairs in order and he is to surrender to authorities by July 30, 2021.

His attorney has until September 2 to certify he surrendered.

Starcom Network’s correspondent in New York, Tony Best reports that the judge could have sentenced Mr. Innis to 7 years in jail but he got a reduced sentence due to several mitigating factors.
