Younger PSV Operators Seen As A Problem

Younger PSV Operators Seen As A Problem

The Transport Authority is calling on public service vehicle owners to do more to help clean-up the sector and to deal with indisciplined drivers.

Director of the Authority Ruth Holder was speaking to Starcom Network News in response to comments made on VOB’s Brass Tacks call-in program by attorney at law Craig Bandfield, who is the Director Complaints with the Alliance Owners of Public Transport.

Mr. Banfield said that part of the problem stems from the large number permits issued during a certain period, resulting in the fact that many of the vehicles are not being driven by the people that own them.

He also feels that makes it difficult to have close day to day monitoring of the on-the-road activity of the operators.

Mr. Banfield insists they are many good drivers and feels the problem is largely the younger people that are hired.

But the Transport Authority Director insists owners have a responsibility to deal with the problem.
