Barbados health officials say they intend to step up vigilance at air and seaports and increase public health measures to guard against the Brazilian variant of the covid-19 virus entering the island.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kenneth George, confirms that a single case of the new strain has been identified in Trinidad and Tobago which he said based on investigations, did not enter at the approved borders.
Dr. George tells Starcom Network News that testing for the different variants will continue along with the national vaccination program as the vaccine offers protection against the various covid strains.
