Man Falls Through Roof While Cleaning Ash

A contract worker has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling through the roof of a business at Warrens, St. Michael that was being cleared of volcanic ash this morning

Sources connected to the company tell Starcom Network News that the young man involved was working for an entity that had been contracted to remove volcanic ash from the roof of the lumber yard of the Ace H and B Hardware Store.

Starcom Network News understands that the worker, 25 year old Shaquille Branch, was wearing a safety harness but it had not been secured to an anchor point.

He is believed to have stepped on a skylight and fell through.

An ambulance was summoned and Branch was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with suspected broken bones including facial injuries.
