Two Tobagonian fishermen remanded on drug trafficking charge

Two Tobagonian fishermen have been remanded to Dodds Prison after being caught allegedly trying to smuggle more than four hundred pounds of marijuana into Barbados.

26 year old Anton James, of Seaview, and 35 year old Krysten Trim, of Bon Accord Main Road, both in Tobago, were not required to plead to the indictable charges that they were in possession of 426.92 pounds of marijuana, which they imported with intent to supply and traffick.
When they appeared in court here this morning the police prosecutor objected to bail due to the large amount of marijuana involved, which carried a street value of more than 774 thousand Barbados dollars, along with the fact that the men are non-nationals with no ties to Barbados.
They are due to reappear before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes on March 19th.
