Barbados’ frontline workers in the battle against the covid-19 pandemic will be honored with a new national award early next year.

This was announced by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley delivering an address during this morning’s Independence Day parade and awards ceremony in National Heroes Square.

Miss Mottley hailed Barbados’ success in combating the spread of the virus, declaring it a victory for the entire country.

But she also singled out a number of individuals and highlighted the role of those who have been on the frontline while promising they will be appropriately recognized.

Miss Mottley spoke of some of the categories to be honored.
