Tougher data protection legislation

Barbados is passing strict new data protection laws that Commerce Minister Dwight Sutherland says will make this country the only one in the region that complies with stringent European Union standards and positions it as a hub for international data management companies.

Mr. Sutherland tabled today in the House of Assembly the Data Protection Act 2019 which sets guidelines and penalties for collection, storage and use of people’s personal information.
