Weir promises relief to farmers complaining of major water supply issues

Agriculture Minister Indar Weir says efforts are on to address the water supply problems of farmers in the north and east of the country who have been appealing for relief.

He was speaking following the official launch today of a regional bee farming project in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture and the Argentine government.

Vegetable producers at the River Plantation Land Lease Project in St Philip and the Spring Hall Land lease in St. Lucy had been complaining about various difficulties in accessing water….concerns that the minister says are being dealt with.

Mr. Weir says the measures being put in place should ensure the farmers have a reliable supply of water throughout the year.
