AG denies there’s anything preventing murder trials proceeding or the death penalty

Barbados Attorney General, Dale Marshall, denies there’s anything preventing murder trials proceeding or the death penalty being imposed in appropriate cases.
He was responding to an article in today’s Nation Newspaper which quotes a high court judge as stating that the courts have found themselves in a conundrum because the Barbados Constitution has not yet been amended after the Caribbean Court of Justice ruled unconstitutional a section of the offenses against the person act which allowed for the mandatory death sentence.
The attorney general says that’s not accurate.

Mr. Marshall says any other issues holding up murder trials have also been resolved.
