Director of the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit, Cheryl Willoughby, says research has shown that children as young as seven years old are using marijuana in Barbados.
She was speaking at a graduation ceremony at the Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary school for participants in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) programme.
She said it’s important that children be aware of the dangers of drug abuse.
She also highlighted the link between the drug trade and crime generally and gun crime specifically.
