Dry conditions and limited water availability affecting farmers

Dry conditions and limited water availability are affecting farmers across the island, with some only getting water thrice daily.

That’s according to Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society, James Paul.

He tells Starcom Network News that while farmers are investing heavily in drip irrigation, there are still some limitations to this method.

He added that another major challenge affecting farmers is the inadequate amount of grass needed to feed livestock and the illegal practice of setting grass fires.
