Resident’s effort to save elderly man from fire in vain

The heroic efforts of a passer-by were unable to save an elderly man who perished in a blaze at Kew Road, Bank Hall, St. Michael last night.
Seventy-six-year-old Eric Fenty died when his wood and concrete home went up in flames around 11 20 pm.
Fabian McDonald told Starcom Network News that he was passing by the house when he noticed a small fire at the rear of the structure, raised the alarm and tried to gain entry via a side door.
However, the heat and smoke proved too intense as he and another man tried to rescue Mr Fenty.
