The health Minister concerned about the rate of traffic accidents and gunshot incidents.

Health Minister, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, says the rate of traffic accidents and gunshot incidents is placing significant pressure on the health care services and while the situation is getting the attention of the cabinet he believes it will require more detailed focus as they are wider implications.

Lieutenant Colonel Bostic was speaking in an interview with Starcom Network News against the background of a spate of vehicle accidents and gunshot cases towards the end of last year and the start of this year.

The Minister says the situation places great demands on both the ambulance service and the hospital.

But he says that apart from those types of cases, measures are being put in place to improve delivery of health care overall, including emergency care at the QEH and  service at the polyclinics where they are pressing ahead with plans for a 24-hour system.
