Progress reported in talks between officials of the Transport Authority and the newly-formed Public Service Vehicle Workers Association.

Both sides are reporting success in resolving a number of issues after a four-hour meeting today between officials of the Barbados Transport Authority and the newly-formed Public Service Vehicle Workers Association which staged a strike yesterday.

Chairman of the Transport Authority Ian Estwick says that while theybwere not able to fully resolve all the issues, significant headway was made andnthey were able to clear up what he believes were misunderstandings.

Meantime, Public Relation Officer of the PSV Workers Association Fabian Wharton says he considers the strike was a success as they got the meeting they wanted with the transport officials to iron out a number of issues.

He believes a big part of the problem was a lot of miscommunication between PSV operators and the Transport Authority but says the operators are now more confident that their concerns will be addressed following today’s talks.
