The National Union of Public Workers, this country’s largest public sector union, is expressing serious concern about the government layoffs.

With the next round of the job cuts due to start next month, N.U.P.W General Secretary, Roslyn Smith, is calling for a direct meeting with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, separate from the social partnership briefings, the last of which was held just last week.

Miss Smith says she sees major flaws in the lay-offs process and there are a lot of questions for which the union needs answers and issues that need to be clarified. She says, for instance, they need to know exactly how many people are being laid off.
