Worrell Remains Central Bank Governor for at Least Six More Days

Central Bank Governor, Dr Delisle Worrell, will remain in his post for at least six more days.

This follows this morning’s session in the High Court, which saw Justice Randall Worrell ruling to have the court order, barring the Finance Minister from sacking Dr Worrell, discharged.

Gregory Nicholls, the attorney representing Dr Worrell, successfully argued to appeal the ruling and later made an application to have the injunction allowing Dr Worrell to remain in the post continue, at least until the matter is heard in the Court of Appeals.

Present at this morning’s sitting were the Solicitor General, Jennifer Edwards QC and Deputy Solicitor General, Donna Brathwaithe as well as the Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaithe, and the attorneys for the Central Bank Governor. Dr Worrell himself was reported to be on the premises but did not enter the courtroom. The Finance Minister did not attend.
